Drunk Shooting Vol. 3

In this blog about drunk shooting you can see a very interesting group of friends featured in the streets of Shibuya. It’s very interesting to see the people of Tokyo after hours, after the working day is over. People seem very carefree and happy. It’s funny to see how many people are willing to use their english language skills too.

Shibuya in black & white and a moment of flow state.

Recently I was walking around Shibuya and I hit a moment a flow state. For around an hour I felt like I found so much inspiration in the world around me and saw lots of nice opportunities for nice photos. I can usually feel when I’m in this state when I’m looking around my eyes see things as if they were my camera lens. I like finding the wonderful in the everyday, this is one of the main reasons I take my camera out with me so often.

Photo walk in Shimokitazawa with @amateurcartography

It was a drizzly night in Shimokitazawa, one stop from Shibuya where I met up with fellow Tokyo SPC member Tom Knott (@amateurcaretography on Instagram). It was a quiet as far as street photography goes, not many people around the streets. When I don’t have much to shoot it’s hard for me to stay in the flow state that I need for street photography. We ended up looking around a book market and eating Kushi-age. Here are some of the shots I got from this evening.

A day in Kamakura

Recently I went to Kamakura, a seaside area just south of Tokyo. I don’t get out of the city often and it was nice to see a different area in Japan.I was hoping for it to be more peaceful, but with it being holiday season in Japan it was pretty packed. I got to go to the beach, which was pretty windy but it was a nice day.

Yokohama and Chinatown

I went to visit Yokohama for the first time since arriving in Tokyo 8 months ago. It had been on my list of things to do and the weather was great. I also got to see the well-renowned Chinatown which I had heard a lot about from people. I lived in China for 3 years before I had moved to Japan so my friends were asking me how it compared. It didn’t feel like I was back in China but it was cool.

Kanamara Matsuri Festival (Penis Festival) w/ @TokyoSPC

On Sunday I went to the Kanamara Matsuri festival in Kawasaki with some members of Tokyo SPC. The festival is based around the Kanayama shrine where sex workers would go back in the day to pray for protection against STD’s. Today it feels like a big tourist event where people like to eat penis shaped foods.
